First things first...

yes, Sam will be an older brother this year. We were not really expecting to expand our family, yet here we are. Seeings how it was unexpected, the day when this baby is coming is also a slight mystery. I'm thinking Aug 31- Sept 3rd ish. Somewhere around there. Just exactly the right time to make my summer as hot as possible!!!
I did see the doctor this week & I'm not quite far along enough to hear the heartbeat, which kinda bummed me out cause I thought if I could hear the heartbeat I might begin to believe this is all real. They did take some of my blood, so of course my arm looks disgusting- seriously, how can I bruise like this every single time I have blood taken?
We've definitely had a long week here. On Monday Sam was playing behind the couches with his toys when I heard a thunk & some whining followed. I didn't pay much attention because this is a common occurance here. Then the crying got much louder & Sean walked in the room to find Sam was bleeding quite a bit. We're not sure how he did it, but I'm guessing he was jumping off of some toy & hit his head on his dump truck.. just my guess. He however, suffered a gash next to his right eye & a bruise right smack between his eyes that has been turning lovely colors throughout the week. I was afraid to take him out at first, because, once again, it looks like I'm abusing this poor child!

Sean planted a new little cactus garden. I'm not really a fan of cactus, but Sean chose them all & arranged them with rocks he found & just the whole thing made me smile.. he is the cutest :)

after he arranged it he told me his Grandma had a little cactus garden when he was little & he liked to look at it when he would visit her. :)



Sam woke up Saturday morning nice & hungry but wouldn't seem to eat anything I put in front of him. That is, until I gave him a cold piece of pizza... this is a boy after my own heart :)

onto his bath... Sam has a new obsession of laying down in the bath tub. It's actually pretty entertaining, that is until he starts kicking the water everywhere. He hesitates putting his ears under the water & then his eyes get wide & he slowly lowers his head. Then he cries when I want to take him out.. lovely :)

Sam was getting us ready for the day by turning the turn signals on.. he LOVES to pretend he is driving & seriously does everything that Sean does when he's driving.

Then we hooked up the trailer one last time & took it to its new owner :( It's so hard... to say goodbye :

We've had alot of good times in this baby! Hopefully we'll get another one to replace it!

The lady we sold it to works at the Rennesaince Festival & so we delivered it to the grounds. She gave us 2 free tickets to come to the festival. I've never been before, so I'm sure we'll have fun doing that in the next few weeks here :)

On our way back we decided to stop at the park to tire out Sam so he'd sleep better. We went to Freestone park. Sam pretty much tried to dive in to the little lake several times after the ducks. I say "quack quack" & he repeats "da da!" which means quack quack in Sam talk. He has a rubber ducky in the tub & always says the same thing back to me.

So of course, we had to let him ride his favorite now.. the carosel . He LOVES it! & kept trying to run back to it when we took him off

We've had alot of snifflys aorund this house this past month & so we have a few rolls of tp laying around in various locations. Sean was sitting doing his homework & not paying attention to Sam when we found this...

it's not just the in bathroom we get these messes anymore! :)


Today we started learning ' He Sent His Son' in primary. The kids actually already now it, so it was pretty easy & fun today. I made little drawings to help them remember the words. When I got to " He sent His Son, a newborn babe- the kid in the front row said... great picture!!

these kids are easily entertained, I guess :) I'm really enjoying this calling alot! We sang the song together & then when the song asked a question, they stood & they sat when it gave the answer. They liked that. Then they picked different ways to sing it- patting their head & rubbing thier tummies, standing on one leg, with their eyes closed, etc. I made a jeopardy game last week about the song we were learning & they really liked that. When they came in today they asked if we were doing it again. Those kids are growing on me :)

I knew Sam was getting hungry just awhile ago, so I grabbed the tray to his high chair to wash it off & when I turned around he was sitting up in his chair. Sean told me that he got in the chair himself. If you've seen this chair you'll realize how ridiculous that even sounds. I said- yeah, sure, right! Very sarcastically. Then Sean continued to stick to his ridiculous story. So he took him out, put him down & he did it right in front of my very own eyes. I couldn't believe it!!! So I made him do it one more time so I could video tape it, When he got up, he had a little harder time positioning himself, but if you could have only seen the first time! This kid is so nuts!!!

Drawn

We went shopping the other day cause our cupboards were looking a little bleak. I really do feel like a mom when I go grocery shopping with Sean & Sam. I like to buy things that are on sale or that I have a coupon for. Sean likes to buy things that he things look good to eat, no matter the price. I always have to remind myself that he is an adult & is allowed to buy the food he wants, but I usually say no - I don't have a coupon for that. Lucky for Sean, the Wheaties Fuel was on sale, so I was ok with him coming to me with this box of cereal. Dosn't it look great?!
when I saw the box it actally made me laugh. Does this not look like a man's cereal, or what? Can't get any manlier than this on the box!
The part that made me really laugh was when we went to check out the man behind us was buying like 5 boxes of this cereal, & only 1 or 2 other things. It's like men are drawn to this cereal! so be careful if your husband is in a grocery store- he may come home with a box of it... & believe me, it's really not that tasty!

Hidden Pictures

Do you remember the hidden picture game in the Highlights magazines? I LOVED doing those when I was little- heck, I'd even do it now if I saw one. One object that was always a good find in every picture... Well- lets see if you can spot it in each of these pictures...

your right! The spoon! Sam thinks that the spoon is his best friend now. After he is fed from a spoon, he will throw a fit if he can't have it to carry around for awhile afterwards. Now lets focus back on those first two pictures.. did you happen to notice that he is sitting in my dresser drawer? I told Sean this morning that he needed to go see what Sam was up to & he kept putting it off saying he was fine. Then he called for me to come & see what my son was doing. Thats always a good thing to hear.

It's gettng hot in here!

Last night we were trying to wind down for the night when Sean left the room for a minute. Sam, of course, has to follow... I heard a noise, but thought Sean was in another room & Sam was hitting up against the door trying to get to Sean. Then I heard a clunking noise, not consistant with the scenario I had imagined in my head, so I went to check on Mr. Mischievious himself. & where did I find him?

in the furnace closet!He went down the hall, opened the closet & climbed on in & decided to start hitting the smoke detector against the furnace. What a joy this boy can be!!!

My old young women invited me to hang out with them for the night also, & they (pretty sure by they, I mean the leaders) made me this awesome scrapbook of pictures of when I was in the ward.. I LOVED it!!!

Curse

It seems obvious that working with teeth on a consistant basis, I would have tooth on the brain every once in awhile. Every so often I am blessed, or cursed, with an awesome dream that a tooth or two is falling out & I'm hysterical that I'll have billybob teeth. Last night it was serious nightmare!! They kind of looked like this in the dream...
Except they were my adult teeth. I was dreaming that despite my years in braces, my teeth shifted & when I looked in the mirror I started to cry. I thought nothing could be done & was starting to get pretty hysterical- I swear it seemed so real!!! Then I saw my boss & told her that my teeth were shifting & she acted like I was so stupid & then she just used her fingers & fashioned them back to being straight again & right as I was giving a sigh of relief I woke up.
Why? I guess no matter what your profession is, there is a nightmare situation waiting around the corner to haunt your dreams, right?

Monkeying Around

It finally happened... I got zoo tickets from the library culture passes!!! I've tried on several occassions to be the first one in the door so I could snag free zoo tickets & I've failed several times, but on Thursday... I prevailed!!!!!
Sean finished work early, so we spent our afternoon looking at sleeping animals....turns out they like to nap in the afternoon too!

Also turns out that Sam is very interested in climbing fences.. almost more interested in climbing fences than looking at animals.

We stopped by the petting zoo & the goats LOVED Sean! I didn't get a picture when they were really closing in on him. Maybe his deoderant attracts goats?

Sam LOVED petting the goats!!!! He just ran from goat to goat. I've been working on being "gentle" with him & he did pretty good.

Probably the highlight of the trip, unfortunately, was riding the carousel. I've never seen him so happy!!!!

He cried when we took him off, so the very kind operator let me take him on again for free.

I thought I would exercise when I came home, but my feet hurt from walking around the zoo I couldnt' bring myself to!! Taking a 15 month old boy with as much energy as Sam has to the zoo is exhausting!!!!

Even the potatoes have eyes!

Last night was hard. Sam has had a temperature & we've been keeping it under control, but the poor boy slept 13 hours last night & is asleep as I speak. If you know this child at all, this is unbelievable. He never sleeps. So, we didn't make it to church today. I, however, didn't ask someone to fill in for me, so I went to primary today. We played hot potato. I took Sam's Mr. Potato head parts & put them in a few real potatoes.I wrapped up the potatoes in tin foil. I wrapped several layers & in each layer was a song title. They listened to the new song we learned & passed the potato & when the music stopped whoever was holding it got to unwrap a layer to see what song we sang next. They LOVED it :) I didn't tell them what was under the last layer, so they couldn't wait to see what they ended up with . All of the kids came up to play with it after church.

Hopefully our household will be seing better times very soon!!!

Pine Needles Forever!

Christmas finally came down today....
we, being slight procrastinators, have not ordered the part that we need to our vacuume cleaner, so we borrowed my mother in laws vaccume cleaner after taking our tree down. It looked like the Christmas tree had exploded. I guess thats what you get with a real tree. We kept the vacuume over night to find the hiding needles tomorrow... but I have a feeling that we'll be finding pine needles for the next few months. don't worry Mom- I'll try hard to rid your home of them before you return!
It was quite the task to do this today cause we've been sick around here. Sad to admit I was out of breath & had to sit down several times in the process of doing it. You know when you think your not as sick as you really are & try to do something & then realize you really aren't as well as you think & then you break out into a small sweat? Yeah... did you get that? Point is- Christmas is back in its boxes & I am now relaxing & trying to get better.

Sam, delighted in picking items out of the boxes we were trying to pack up & running away with them, or grabbing the end of the light strings & trying to run away while one of us was still attached to the other end. Crazy kid. He did also have fun doing little dances in the patches of needles before they were vacuumed. This child has no sense of what slowing down means... a million miles an hour all the time.. even when he doesn't feel well either. He's been pretty congested with us & we are trying to treat him with motrin & decongestants, hoping a doctor visit won't have to happen, but may next week. So amidst his running around with ornaments & decorations, this happened....

Don't ask me how this toy mountain happened, but while I was attempting to clean the kitchen I heard Sam whining. Sean told me that he had been watching Sam trapped on the toy mountain & trying to escape- why he didn't help him get off is probably what makes him the dad who loves to tease... whatever...


Sam also loves to help.. or try to anyways. Sean was taking some boxes in the wagon & Sam was, or course, immediately by his side pushing his weight.

He looks like he is really trying to push hard!
Hopefully with a few more days, more juiced fruit concoctions, lots of oranges, lots of fluid, lots of medicine, & lots of rest... next week will be much better!!!!!
