We were so excited to find out that we were going to have our first visitors to Idaho when Tiffany bought their plane tickets!! The boys & I even made a countdown paper chain to help us contain our excitement :) So Tiffany & David just left from their 10 day visit to us. We got to do so much! It was so much fun to be together again!!
We picked them up from the airport & got back late Friday night. Saturday was full of lots of fun! First we went to the very last Farmers Market & walked around to show them the downtown area.
Then we attended a bbq at one of Sean's professors house, so Tiffany got to meet some professors & classmates of Sean's & the kids had a blast playing in the beautiful backyard with all the other kids.
After that, we took a trip up to Coeur D'Alene & Spokane to see its beauty. We stopped first at McCroskey state park, on the way.
Then we went into Coeur D'Alene & walked around the resort, lake & parks.
We also walked around downtown & looked in some fun stores. The kids started to get tired!
Then we headed over to Spokane for a short while & walked through the Riverfront park & ate at the Red Robin downtown.
It was an awesome day!
The beginning of the next week, we saw different things around Moscow & had relaxing days when it was cold, with hot chocolate & stayed inside.! That Monday night we had a pumpkin carving party to get ready for Halloween.
On Thursday, David got to go to school with Sam & I helped for their Halloween party. They got to sing songs about pumpkins, carve a pumpkin, do a costume parade, & have treats while they watched the Charlie Brown Halloween movie.
That night, a club at the law school had trick or treating around the study areas & the professors gave candy out too. We did our first round of trick or treating.
Joe & David both really wanted to be darth vader this year, so we had 2 darths in our Halloween party :)
On Halloween, we lounged around in the morning & then got ready to party all the rest of the day!! We trick or treated up & down main street & it was awesome!! The weather was so amazing. It was unusually warm for the area, so we didn't need heavy jackets on to cover up their costumes. Almost every business on main street participated & there were lots of people... it was awesome!!!
After that, we went to our ward dinner- soup & breadbowls- & trunk or treat afterwards. Yummy & there were lots of fun decorated trunks.
Right after we finished the trunk or treat, we went out to some houses for about an hour. It was probably the most fun Halloween night we've ever had! We had a blast up to that point, but there is something so cool about trick or treating in an area where the leaves are all over the ground & it is actually fall. It felt like we were in a movie :) Everyone is so nice here. There were lots of people dressed up with their houses decorated spooky & awesome. The boys were scared at a couple of places, but we made it through. There was one house that had a mad scientist making something & when we got up to take candy, he said his last ingredient was little boy brain!! The boys grabbed the candy & ran, but there was a scary man at the end of the path too. It was so fun. The neighborhoods here are all old & so pretty. Every house is very different, not like the cookie-cutter neighborhoods in in AZ. When they boys said they were tired, we walked back to the car & had to walk through East City Park. It has huge trees everywhere, & there were teenage kids all over, having Halloween fun. It was really cool. Minus the part where Sam stepped in a "swamp". He stepped in a puddle with mud & who knows what else & then the best night ever went to the worst night ever.
We got home & the boys each had a pumpkin full to the top with candy. They looked over their loot & we watched Garfield Halloween. It was an awesome night!!!!
After everyone was in their pjs, we put a blanket out so the boys could camp out in the family room & turned out the lights, lit all the decorative pumpkins in the house & watched Casper until everyone fell asleep. Best- Halloween- Ever!!!!
We were so lucky to have such amazing weather on Halloween. So many locals told me how many years, it is snowing on Halloween. Well, November brought cold & fog! the next day was definitely not warm!!
So we took off up to Spokane & Coeur D'Alene again. We checked out the mall in dowtown Spokane & goofed around.
The day they left us, we checked out more of Moscow. We walked around downtown & had lunch at the Co-op. We let the kids play at the park for a few minutes (cause it was cold!) & as great moms do.. forced them to let us take pictures of them :)
Does it look like we had fun? Cause pictures don't do it justice. We had the most fun ever while Tiffany & David were here! It was so nice to have a piece of home back with us :) We had the best time sightseeing, lounging around, enjoying the breathtaking beauty of the fall here, baking & eating tons of yummy food.. & just being together!!!
We drove them to the airport & as we left, Sam told me his heart hurt. I agree.
